Located in the heart of Louisiana's nursery capital, Chauncey Nichols Nursery specializes in growing premium plants for our customers. The nursery grows over 300 varieties of plants from woody ornamentals, grasses, ground covers, and perennials. In containers ranging from 4 inch cups to 45 gallon buckets. We sell to all sizes of landscapers, wholesalers, re-wholesalers, and garden centers located across the southern and central United States.
Here at Chauncey Nichols Nursery we are a family and take a tremendous amount of pride in the plants that we grow. It is for that very reason we do not sell to "BIG Box" stores but prefer to have a relationship with our customers. The focus here is on quality not quantity and we believe that given the chance you too would overwhelmingly agree.
Chauncey has had a passion for the nursery business since his high school years, when he would ride his bike after school to work at a local nursery. By age 21, he began growing his own plants behind his father’s business, Garland Nichols Nursery. As his customer base expanded, he realized he needed space of his own.
That opportunity came when Larry Bates, someone Chauncey had once worked for, decided to sell his nursery. The two were able to work out a deal, and that property became the main location of Chauncey Nichols Nursery. The operation continued to grow, and in 2010, Chauncey purchased Flo’s Nursery from his in-laws, adding a second location just three quarters of a mile down the road.
In 2020, he acquired additional property connected to the back of the main nursery, which became fully functional by 2024. Through every season of growth, the nursery has been tremendously blessed, expanding in both size and loyal customers.
Chauncey’s dedication to the industry has been widely recognized over the years. In 2006, he received Louisiana’s Young Professional of the Year Award, honoring outstanding service and leadership among nursery professionals under 40. In 2025, he was awarded Louisiana’s Professional of the Year, recognizing exceptional commitment, integrity, and service to the state’s nursery and landscape community.
